At Peutz, the safety of building occupants is a top priority. A key part of this is the careful design and assessment of escape routes. We analyze how people can evacuate a building safely and efficiently in emergency situations, such as during a fire. In doing so, we take into account factors such as travel distances, door widths, compartmentation, and the capacity of escape routes.
To support these analyses, we use advanced simulation software. This allows us to realistically model human behavior during an evacuation. In this way, we identify bottlenecks and optimize the design of buildings and systems. These simulations are valuable not only during the design phase but also for assessing existing situations or training staff.
An example of this is our software OntruiMR, which enables us to accurately calculate the reception and flow capacity of buildings. This tool is used in schools, hospitals, and office buildings to verify whether escape routes meet the requirements of the Dutch Building Decree and additional guidelines.
With our expertise in fire safety, acoustics, and evacuation modeling, we provide tailored solutions for a wide range of buildings – from healthcare facilities to stadiums, and from educational institutions to airports.
