Wind tunnel model: Forum Trabzon - Trabzon, Turkey

The famous Sumela Monastery, numerous sites of historic interest and its unspoiled beauty make Trabzon one of the most interesting tourist destinations in Turkey. With wind tunnel testing we assessed the possible wind climates inside the shopping centre, at the entrances, on the rooftop terraces (restaurants) and in the car park.

Helicopter deck hot gas plume and air quality: AEGIR - ,

To ensure safe helicopter operations offshore helicopter deck certifiction (CAP 437, NORSOK C-004) requires an assessment of temperature rise due to hot exhaust gas plumes in the airspace above the helideck. The plume trajectory can be visualised in a smoke visualisation test in the wind tunnel. The temperature rise can be directly measured in a buoyant plume tracer gas experiment on a scale model in the wind tunnel.

Wind and current loads for DP: SapuraKencana 3500 - ,

Measurements of the wind loads have been conducted on a scale model of the Ulstein designed SapuraKencana 3500 vessel. The wind loads are measured with a high frequency 6-component balance system, while the model is exposed to an approach flow according to the actual maritime wind velocity and turbulence boundary layer profile. Also current loads for several stinger configurations have been measured in the wind tunnel.

Wind and current loads for DP: SapuraKencana 1200 - ,

Measurements of the wind loads have been conducted on a scale model of the Ulstein designed SapuraKencana 1200 pipelay vessel. The wind loads are measured with a high frequency 6-component balance system, while the model is exposed to an approach flow according to the actual maritime wind velocity and turbulence boundary layer profile. Also current loads for several stinger configurations have been measured in the wind tunnel.

World Port Center - Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Standing alongside the distinctive Hotel New York on Rotterdam’s Wilhelmina Pier is the World Port Center. The office building’s principal occupant is the Port of Rotterdam Authority. The top floors of the 32-storey building are devoted to large conference rooms that provide a fantastic view over the port.
In consultation with the client and the architect, steps were taken to find solutions for the problems with the wind climate around the building, and particularly on the terrace.

Wind loads for DP and stability: Drillship - ,

Measurements of the wind loads have been conducted on a scale model of an Ulstein designed drillship. Through wind tunnel measurements of the wind load coefficients the highest accuracy is achieved in calculation of required thrust capacities, DP capability and DP definition and optimisation.

Wind loads for DP and stability, helideck safety: Arctic drillship - ,

Ships designed for extreme conditions such as the arctic can show aerodynamic properties which are significantly different from conventional ship shapes. Measurements of the wind loads on the arctic drillship have been conducted in the Peutz wind tunnel. Measurements of turbulence and hot exhaust gas dispersion are conducted for CAP 437 certification of both helicopter decks.

Frigstad D90 semi-submersible drilling unit - ,

The Frigstad D90 is a semi-submersible drilling unit design for ultra deepwater exploration & development. Peutz has conducted wind tunnel tests to determine the wind and current loads for stability assessment and DP. In addition a full test matrix of helicopter deck turbulence measurements has been conducted according to the CAP 437 requirements. The tests have been conducted at the wind tunnel facility of Peutz.

Concertgebouw Amsterdam - Amsterdam, The Netherlands

The Grote Zaal (Main Hall) of the Concertgebouw went through major renovations between 1985 and 2002, in respect of which eventually all wall and ceiling surfaces as well as the chairs and stage were renewed. The Kleine Zaal (Recital Hall) underwent complete refurbishment in 2004. As in the Grote Zaal, the acoustic quality was preserved by taking every last detail into account.
