At Peutz, we are committed to circular construction. We are rethinking how buildings are designed, built, and reused. By optimizing materials, design principles, and processes, we create living and working environments that are circular, sustainable, and technically robust.
Why circular construction?
Regulations are evolving. Since July 1, 2021, environmental performance standards for new buildings have been tightened. This is a step toward halving environmental impact by 2030 and achieving fully climate-neutral and circular construction by 2050. There is also increasing focus on CO₂ taxation. From 2025, stricter standards are expected, including mandatory CO₂-equivalent LCAs at the building level.
Our approach
- Whole-life approach via LCA
We conduct whole-life carbon assessments (WLC) for buildings and building products to map environmental impact, including CO₂ emissions.
- Measuring, analyzing, and advising
In our specialized laboratories, we measure the physical and acoustic properties of materials and test wind and fire safety. Based on this, we provide advice on circular applications and material selection.
- Modular and demountable design
We promote design in detachable layers. Façades, interior finishes, and installations are separated to enable reuse and adaptability, as demonstrated in our advice for the Buildwise project.
Project examples
- Standards and LCA requirements
We support clients in meeting MPG requirements (maximum 0.5 for residential buildings and 0.85 for offices from 2025) and assist with CO₂ building evaluations.
- Witrijt (Bakelse Plassen)
For this project, we handled permitting and environmental analyses related to circular material use and landscape integration. This is an example of integrated sustainable area development.
- Buildwise (BE)
In the Flemish context, we provided building physics, acoustics, and LCA advice for a circular concept with demountable façades and reusable building layers.
