Soundproofing of facades and roofs

To prevent noise pollution, the exterior walls of buildings such as homes, hospitals, or offices must provide adequate sound insulation. The degree of sound insulation is often prescribed by legislation such as the Building Decree or by architectural specifications.

Determining the required sound insulation

The required sound insulation of a facade depends on the noise exposure on that facade, resulting from road, rail, or air traffic, for example. Forecasts are made of the noise exposure on the facade as a result of these noise sources, as well as calculations of the required sound insulation of the facade.

Expertise and laboratory research

Peutz has extensive expertise in the sound insulation of building structures and products for these calculations. This knowledge is partly based on our acoustic laboratory, where products from various manufacturers are tested. With the help of this expertise, we can provide well-founded advice on possible ventilation openings and the construction of glass and/or building structures.

Measurements of sound insulation in practice

In practice, we determine the external sound insulation of facade and roof structures using noise sources. Peutz has measuring equipment for situations with high sound insulation, such as architectural structures of catering establishments, concert halls, and theaters.

Clear reports for permits and implementation

Reports of the above-mentioned acoustic studies must both meet the requirements for the permit application and inform construction partners about the measures to be taken.
