Three winners under one roof

With their theses, they have demonstrated the importance of solid research for the advancement of fire safety.

In recent years, three colleagues have won the prestigious Netherlands Institute for Public Safety (NIPV)–VVBA Thesis Award. This prize is awarded annually to a student who writes an exceptionally interesting and relevant thesis in the field of fire safety.

In 2023, Daphne Dechering received the award for her study on the influence of wood properties on the fire behaviour of timber

In 2024, Nora Kuiper won with her thesis on reducing overpressure in residential buildings through the ventilation system

In 2025, Merel Schouten received the award for her research into the fire behaviour of vegetation in vertical green systems

With their theses, they have demonstrated the importance of solid research for the advancement of fire safety. And best of all: today, they put their knowledge and creativity to work every day at Peutz!
