Home / Acoustics and noise / Construction noise
In the Netherlands, there is increasing attention for (construction) noise. With the entry into force of the 2012 Building Decree, legal noise standards have been introduced, making the control of construction noise an important precondition for the execution of construction and demolition projects.
The various construction phases, such as demolition, site preparation, foundation, structural work, and finishing, are accompanied by different noise emissions. In inner-city situations, foundation work of any size involving regular pile driving will therefore lead to bottlenecks. For example, an exemption must already be requested for regular pile driving during the day if there are homes within a distance of 60 m.
Noise monitoring provides accurate information in relation to noise limits and perceived nuisance. It can be used to demonstrate compliance with limits set out in, for example, an exemption. It also allows the contractor to be notified quickly when the limits are (or are likely to be) exceeded. In this way, the progress of the project can be guaranteed and potential noise nuisance for the surrounding area can be limited.
In larger construction projects, where foundation work in the vicinity of homes is necessary, construction noise is undoubtedly a relevant issue. In such situations, timely and thorough advice can prevent the start of foundation work from being delayed because it becomes apparent too late that an exemption is required. With environmental management and noise monitoring, we help you increase support for construction noise. In this way, the construction process can be carried out cost-effectively and delays in construction work can be prevented.
