Home / Product Testing
For many products, European standards or guidelines have been established specifying safety and quality requirements. For a great many products, however, no such standards or guidelines exist, yet it may still be desirable to investigate the safety or quality of a product.
This may involve investigating the (non-)combustibility, strength, durability and stability of an object, or its noise emissions. But also, for example, the emission of chemical substances or the flash point of a material or object. Through technical investigation, we can establish why a product has failed and what the cause was. The answers to these questions can be important for a manufacturer to demonstrate that a product is safe, that it meets the specified quality requirements, and/or how it can be improved. The research question may come from end users or from a manufacturer or developer themselves.
We cover all aspects of product safety and product quality. Operating four laboratories, we are able to test almost anything: how much noise a product generates, whether it can withstand mechanical impact, what substances it emits, how hot it gets during use, how it behaves in a fire, or whether it can withstand storm conditions. We have an answer to all of these questions after a thorough investigation. Based on the research question, we determine which tests are required. We make use not only of our own laboratories but also of our own test equipment. Where possible, we align with existing standards and guidelines. If the question deviates too far from an existing or previously performed test, we develop an entirely new test protocol.
Products can be the cause of damage or even personal injury. In such cases, we can investigate the possible cause. We examine the product on-site or in our laboratory, review the underlying documentation, and can simulate possible scenarios. A scenario may, for example, provide conclusive evidence regarding ignitability, stability, strength, heat resistance, durability or noise levels. In addition to establishing the cause, the investigation may also lead to product improvement, helping to prevent incidents or damage in the future.
We are an independent engineering firm. This means we test whether a product meets predetermined quality requirements using a predefined test plan. For technical investigations into the cause of product failure, prior consultation takes place regarding the circumstances of the event — what happened, under what conditions, and so on. The test and investigation results enable the client to modify or improve their product accordingly.
