Applied consulting services

This former Philips site was also known as “the Forbidden City”.

Eindhoven, formerly known as the “Forbidden City” of Philips. Since its sale in 2000, the area has been transformed into a vibrant mixed-use district with approximately 4,000 residential units, offices, commercial spaces, small businesses, and hospitality venues. Peutz has been extensively involved in nearly all building developments within Strijp-S. Our Eindhoven office is located in the Microlab building, an exemplary reuse of a former Philips facility, underscoring our deep connection to the site. Throughout the years, Peutz has provided consultancy services across a wide range of disciplines, including:

  • Building physics and sustainability
  • Building and environmental acoustics
  • Fire safety
  • External noise exposure (rail, industry, music)
  • Wind nuisance and external safety

We have also contributed to broader area studies on topics such as wind comfort, noise pollution from road and rail traffic, and industrial noise.
Some of the notable buildings we’ve supported include:

  • Anton and Gerard: Renovated Philips buildings now serving as residential and commercial hubs.
  • Blok 59, 61, and 63: New residential blocks with a strong focus on acoustic comfort and energy efficiency.
  • Sixty5 and The Cohesion Lux: Modern apartment complexes with integrated sustainability measures.
  • Trudo Vertical Forest: A pioneering green residential tower with vertical vegetation.
  • Haasje Over and Donna: High-rise buildings with innovative façade and acoustic solutions.
  • Parkeergarages SPZ2 and ‘Strijp-S Om de Hoek’: Designed with attention to ventilation, noise control, and fire safety.
  • Toren Niko (now Lighthouse) and Het Veemgebouw: Adaptive reuse projects combining heritage preservation with modern performance standards.
  • S-West: A mixed-use development with advanced building physics and wind comfort strategies.

Peutz’s multidisciplinary expertise has helped shape Strijp-S into one of the most sustainable and creatively repurposed urban areas in the Netherlands.
